01 Who is responsible

MakeSmall is published by Dev Desai, who is responsible for this policy and for the limited personal data it describes. For any privacy question, contact support@makesmall.app.

02 Files you choose

MakeSmall reads the files you select through Files or Photos to analyse and compress them locally. MakeSmall does not operate a file-upload service, an account database or a cloud library. Downloads from iCloud or another file provider are handled by that provider.

03 Saved copies and originals

Finished copies stay in Files → On My iPhone → MakeSmall → Compressed until you delete them or remove the app. Copies you save elsewhere are controlled by that location and its provider. Photos originals are never replaced. MakeSmall saves a smaller copy to Photos only after you choose that action.

Eligible Files originals are replaced only after you choose Replace originals and confirm. Folders are not replaced. Export copies you want to keep before removing MakeSmall.

04 Temporary files and local preferences

MakeSmall stores compression preferences and usage totals on your device. Disposable working data is cleaned up after processing and when abandoned work is recovered on launch. Clear app cache removes temporary working data and the URL cache while keeping saved outputs.

You can delete saved copies in Files. Deleting MakeSmall removes its local app data; copies stored outside MakeSmall remain in their chosen locations.

05 Advertising

MakeSmall shows ads. It uses Google Mobile Ads to deliver them. MakeSmall does not show ads in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, and it asks you for advertising consent nowhere. Google’s User Messaging Platform is used only to establish whether consent would be required where you are; where it would be, MakeSmall requests no ads at all and the advertising SDK never starts.

Ads are non-personalised. MakeSmall turns off publisher first-party ID, sends no child or teen age signal, caps ad content at Google’s General rating, and does not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission, because it does not track you across other companies’ apps and websites. Non-personalised ads still involve some data collection: Google may process an IP address and approximate location derived from it, device or app-instance identifiers, information about how you interact with the app and with the ads it shows, and crash, performance or other diagnostic information. Google uses this information to deliver and measure ads, support app functionality, and detect fraud. Some information may be associated with a device or app instance, but not with an account you hold with MakeSmall, because MakeSmall has no accounts.

Retention and handling of advertising data are governed by Google’s privacy policy. MakeSmall never sends your files, file names or previews to Google.

06 Your advertising choices

MakeSmall asks for no advertising consent, so there is nothing for you to review or withdraw. Ads include Google’s AdChoices controls where available. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland you will see no ads at all, and the region you are in may otherwise affect whether an ad can be shown.

07 This support website

This website provides information and does not accept uploads of your compression files. We do not add advertising or analytics to the website. The hosting service may process basic request information, such as IP addresses and browser details, to deliver and protect the website. Where the UK or EU GDPR applies, the legal basis for this is the legitimate interest in delivering and protecting the website.

08 Children

MakeSmall is a general-purpose utility. It is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, or under the age of digital consent where that age is higher. MakeSmall sends no child-directed or teen signal to its advertising provider and limits ad content to Google’s General rating. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will address it.

09 Your privacy rights

MakeSmall has no account system and builds no profile about you, so there is usually nothing for it to retrieve or erase. Your files, saved copies and preferences stay on your device and are gone when you delete them or remove the app.

Where the UK or EU GDPR applies, you have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to the processing of personal data, and to complain to your local supervisory authority. Advertising data is held by Google rather than by MakeSmall, so requests about it are handled under Google’s privacy policy. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland MakeSmall requests no advertising, so there is no advertising data about you to hold in the first place.

MakeSmall does not sell or share personal information as those terms are used in California law, and does not use it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

10 Where information is processed

Your files are processed on your iPhone and are not transferred anywhere. This website is served by a global hosting network, and advertising is delivered by Google. Both may process request information, including an IP address, on servers outside your own country.
